Learn about the brand
In 1990 our founder, Douglas Meadows, lost his mother to cancer. To commemorate her and her life, each year we sponsor a writing contest in our local elementary school. This contest allows students to honor their their own mothers and to express their love and appreciation through a writing exercise. We offer this contest to students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. For 15 years we have over 7,000 kids write in and tell us why their mom deserves a diamond. Three students win a 1/4 carat diamond and a gemstone winner is chosen from every classroom that participates.

“My mom deserves a diamond. She always motivates me. What she says to me makes me feel proud. My mom is always kind and helps people. That makes me want to be kind to others too. I like to draw a lot, and whenever I show my mom my drawings she says they’re amazing which makes me want to draw more. My mom says I am an amazing daughter to her, but she helped me become it. She’s told me to be honest to others and to always work my hardest. My mom really deserves a diamond.

“Her hands were the ones who held me tight. Her hands were the ones who helped write A B C. Her hands were the ones who commend me. Her hands should be the ones who holds a gemstone as big as her heart.
